Lyman Briggs College offers students the opportunity to work in a variety of roles within the college. LBC student positions are a great way to get a hands on work experience. Students can apply to available LBC positions using Handshake.

Human Resources Student Assistant

Performs general office support and project work in the Lyman Briggs College Human Resources Office. Duties include general clerical work, including data entry and scanning, maintaining and filing/digitizing documents for recordkeeping purposes, updating and maintaining various spreadsheets, entering payroll, assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.

This position requires highly developed organizational skills with high attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate basic employability skills including timeliness to work, appropriate dress, interpersonal communication, time management and be able to work independently. Prefer a student in a Human Resources related field that has knowledge of HR terminology. Proficiency in Excel, Dropbox, Qualtrics and Adobe Acrobat is desired.

Laboratory Attendant

Responsibilities include cleaning (automatic and manual) glassware and other laboratory equipment, picking up and delivering supplies to laboratories, preparing and stocking rooms, processing lab generated bio-hazardous waste and disposing of lab and prep room waste, assisting with inventory and supplies, maintaining proper laboratory hygiene, cleaning and maintaining marine and freshwater aquariums including display tanks, filters, fish, invertebrates and plants in laboratories and offices and assisting with moving faculty/staff offices and lab equipment.

Required Qualifications
Must have completed 1 semester of Chemistry or Biology lecture and laboratory courses at MSU and be able to lift 50 lbs. Lab attendants must be punctual, self-starting, courteous and cooperative with requests received from LBC faculty, staff and visitors.

Desired Qualifications
Prefer candidates who have had previous “hands on” work or research experience in chemical or biological laboratories.

Student Clerical Assistant I

Performs general office support and project work in the Lyman Briggs Student Affairs and Dean's Office. Performs routine clerical support to academic or administrative units. Answers telephone, makes copies, performs data entry and filing, runs errands, and greets visitors.

Student Info Tech I

Student Technicians help keep Lyman Briggs technology running smoothly and efficiently. Being a student tech of a small IT unit team to field emails, phone calls, and in-person visits, answering questions on all matter of technologies. Previous technology experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities and Duties
Operates or assists in the operation of computers and software applications; maintains equipment; installing or updating software on user’s computers. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving or assigning software, hardware requests received via walk-in or e-mail. Help maintain several labs and network printers.

Desired Qualifications
Must be respectful, dependable, honest, and discreet.
Excellent customer service skills; working knowledge of Windows and/or Mac Operating Systems hardware, and general knowledge of application software; Experience in Windows and/or MAC troubleshooting; Familiarity with computing resources on campus
