LBC Computer Requirements for Fall 2017 Briggs Students
Starting Fall 2017, all students in Lyman Briggs College are expected to have a notebook/laptop computer for use at MSU. Below are minimal requirements. Anything equal or greater than this configuration will be adequate for the Lyman Briggs College courses.

- 4GB Memory
- 128GB Hard Drive
- 802.11 Wireless (G)
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.9.5 or later
students rely on tablet devices (e.g., iPad), mobile phones, or netbook computers (e.g., Chromebooks) as their primary computer due to software limitations.

Students who qualify for financial aid may request up to $600 in additional aid in order to meet the computer requirement. Most students who qualify will receive loans. Students with the highest need may receive grants. See more information and request forms (https://finaid.msu.edu/computer.asp

Students may choose to purchase the computer through the MSU Computer Store (http://cstore.msu.edu/
) or at an off-campus store of their choice. The MSU Computer Store sells computer hardware and software to MSU students, faculty, and staff at an educational discount. Popular software is available in some cases for less than half the retail price.
Michigan State transitioned undergraduate student email to Microsoft Office 365 email during summer and fall 2015. Office 365 is a suite of office software hosted by Microsoft that can be accessed anywhere on multiple devices. Office Pro Plus includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, and Publisher is available for free once they have their Office 365 account setup. Office for Mac is also available.
